Seven checks before paying for Star Citizen

Use this purchase checklist alongside the official checkout. Print it if you want to keep your own record of the package and terms you chose.

1. Check your computer

   RSI lists 150 GB of SSD space, 16 GB RAM minimum and recommends 32 GB. Confirm CPU instruction support and GPU compatibility on the official requirements page. Minimum requirements do not promise smooth performance.

2. Try before paying when possible

   A public Free Fly can help you decide. Check the audience and dates; some ship trials only admit existing backers. An expected event month is not a confirmed trial window.

3. Identify the product

   The contents must include Star Citizen access. A standalone ship is not a game licence. Squadron 42 access is a separate entitlement.

4. Compare real prices

   Use our starter comparison and the RSI store. Check the source timestamp, regular price, any listed offer and the final tax. Choose a package within your budget rather than treating a percentage discount as a reason to spend more.

5. Check your account before attaching a code

   Add a valid player code during registration or within 24 hours on a new account without one. An older purchased account does not become eligible by buying again. See the existing-account checklist. RSI referral conditions

6. Separate the rewards

   Referral UEC is currency, not money off at checkout. The recruiter's $40 eligible spending rule is separate. Subscriber coupons and time-limited event items each have their own conditions. RSI subscriber coupon terms

7. Keep evidence of the order

   Save the package contents, final price and receipt. Alpha bugs, lost items and resets remain possible. Do not make the purchase conditional on an unannounced future feature or reward.
