Buying Squadron 42: what to check before paying

Maintained by Domux. Editorial approach and referral disclosure

Start by checking whether you already own access. Some older RSI packages included Squadron 42, while a current standalone ship or Star Citizen starter does not automatically include it.

Check your existing package

Open My Hangar and read the package contents. Keep an existing Squadron 42 entitlement intact. Buy-back restrictions can prevent recovering it after a reclaim, so do not assume melting and rebuying is harmless.

Where to find a genuine offer

The official Squadron 42 website currently gives a Q2 2027 launch target. At our 1 October 2026 check, no ordinary standalone checkout or verified public price was available. Joining its announcement list is not a preorder.

When sales are offered, compare the total after tax for the standalone game and any genuine bundle. RSI's Orders FAQ describes an optional checkout add-on; that description does not prove one is on sale today. Select an available add-on before completing the relevant order. We cannot identify the cheapest future deal without an official price.

Keep the Star Citizen bonus separate

A new RSI account can use a player referral code without buying now. If you later choose Star Citizen and meet the applicable rules, its standard account UEC benefit may help with your starting budget. It does not discount Squadron 42 or provide campaign credits or equipment.

Use the new-account signup link✓ Verified referral code · Today: 3 October 2026 if you want the field filled in, or enter STAR-JTV7-FXLR manually. For an account you already created, check the 24 hour grace period. Future event rewards and launch purchasing power remain unconfirmed. Buy Star Citizen access only if you actually want that game.
